Hi, I'm a artist / Illustrator living and working in Nottingham, England. Also a graduate of Nottingham Trent University, with a BA in Graphic Design. I’m truly happy when I’m drawing, most days I look up from my work, to find it’s suddenly dark, and the dog has all four legs crossed.

Background
As an only child I was always asking for felt-tips and paper, to keep myself happy when my parents were busy with friends. I’d sit and draw for hours. I don’t think you can escape the creative gene if you have it. It will always show itself in some form, so later when deciding what to study, Graphic Design seemed like the obvious choice. Using the computer was a real learning curve for me. It's now become as natural as using the felt-tips. For a while my work was totally digital. I became an Adobe addict.

Skills and Techniques
Now the PC and Wacom Tablet are valuable tools, but only part of my creative process and I’m glad I didn’t limit myself to either medium. I equally enjoy sitting with my pens and sketchbook, getting messy with inks and charcoal as well as joining these more traditional mediums with my skills in Photoshop or Illustrator. I really enjoy the spontaneity that has come from combining the two and the way it has helped my work to evolve.

Inspiration and Influences
Inspiration is everywhere; knowing how to harness and integrate it, that’s the fun part. I have always loved the details in things, taking a closer look, finding something you hadn’t noticed at first. My style reflects this; it’s like buying a painting and getting another smaller one inside it. Other times I can be inspired by something I find amusing or silly. These pieces have a comic style and are often accompanied by text. But in most part my usual starting point is music; it’s definitely my biggest influence.
