Mark Scott-Wood

Name:
Mark Scott-Wood
Role:
Artist
Media:
Mixed Media
Region:
London

Mark Scott-Wood studied at Norwich School of Art & Design and at Byam Shaw School of Art. He currently lives and works in London. He uses disperate working methods from sculpture to performance in an attempt to explore the human condition. He often crafts found objects and the everyday to make the mundane beautiful, the grotesque enticing and the obscene seen.

His work has been described as "truly provacative, it's revealing, dangerous, poignant and though misleadingly immediate it demands further attention."

Artist Statement -

Objects that intrigue me are collected. The stuff that surrounds me is my medium. A fascination with process and material is what compels me. The application of texture and an ongoing experimentation with appearances is where my investigation continues into different forms of expression. The work that is not easily classified is the work that, for me, is most successful. In the grey areas in between the extremes is where I like my art to lurk. The subject matter for this is eclectic. The world is full of so many distractions; I take these distractions and make them the focus of what I do.

Re: Mark Scott-Wood

I know! I never leave the house these days so this is the only way I can keep tabs on the artworld. This is not exactly true but I'm sure you get the idea.

Re: Mark Scott-Wood

Hi Mark. Had a quick look at your images. Love the ghostly cross! Wow you are very busy. If you would like an invite to my next event please send me an email address? It will be in the Waterloo Tunnels.

All best, Rosie Leventon

Re: Mark Scott-Wood

Thanks Rosie,

I think I've had the pleasure of stumbling around your wonky floor at The Fieldgate Gallery a few years ago. Was it?

I'll message you my email address. I'd love to come along to your next event. I love the Waterloo Tunnels.
