My work is informed by a desire to understand how we position ourselves in the ‘real’ world, how we come to understand what we become aware of through our senses, how we contextualise and understand space and how these perceptions influence our ideas about humanity. There are two elements to my practice, painting and construction and whist they are on the whole separate strands only occasionally forming part of the same work, and each informs and influences the other. The painting element is primarily driven by ideas on language and narrative and the three dimensional by spatial concerns and site.
I work from my studio in East Lincolnshire, always aiming to complete two or three self initiated projects annually, engaging with other local and national art projects and selected exhibitions. I also work in the education sector as a creative practitioner/partner delivering artistic skills to all age groups in schools.
