I have always drawn, but since 2002 my practice has been exclusively drawing based - dealing with the marks and residues we leave behind as we move through spaces and investigating drawing as an expression of gesture, mark and imprint or trace.
I am particularly interested in the physical contact of the drawing hand with the drawing surface, in the multitude of ways in which the activity and gesture of drawing can result in marks and imprints. I am interested in indicators of human presence—a worn piece of fabric, a footprint in the sand, or a furrow in a field—as well along with marks and residues left behind as the result of conscious and unconscious actions or gestures. I am also exploring the idea of drawing as a form of contact between artist and medium, artist and audience and audience and work - interested in the literal and implied connections made between individual pieces of work and how these are orchestrated through exhibition and installation.
Work ranges from large, meticulously rendered drawings to collections of accidental, intentional and found marks.
