Using permutations of architectural language, my work takes the form of totemic frieze. Achieved through treatment in both digital conversion and CMYK colour separation silkscreen technique, pieces often consist of a number of large printed ‘panels’ depicting imagined technological and structural ‘episodes’. The appropriated photographs are taken from a variety of sources from books, magazines as well as digital sources.
The resulting compositions create an arcane and inverted perspective to bear on the entirety of the spectacular world. An accumulation of historical research has formed the basis for this configuration, one in which associations between religious constructions, quasi-science and fictional architecture are a re-occurring feature. The message is one of subverted cultural elucidations of history.
I am also drawn to the marginal and hence subversive nature of supernatural themes, the ideas and symbolism of the occult and its association with the more disreputable forms of popular entertainment. Taken from disparate yet analogous influences, works attempt to coalesce in an allusion to invented cultural interpretations of good and evil, heaven and hell, salvation and damnation.
Print graduate of the Royal College of Art, I am an East London based artist originally from Essex in the United Kingdom. My work falls into two main categories which encompass the twin strands of both Fine Art Practice and Illustration. Recent activities have included projects as diverse as Christies ‘Multiplied’ Editions fair, design collaborations with head of menswear at Versace, designer Martyn Bal, Co curator of Salon Vogue at Royal Dalston Hotel, fashion illustration for ELLE Magazine, Celestial Contrakt group show at Schwartz Gallery London which again I co-curated with Christina Mitrentse and print projects with Berlin based print Gallery RISE BERLIN.
