Ingvill Gaarder studied fine art at Chelsea College of Art and Design, The London Institute (England), Houston University (USA) and Bergen School of Art (Norway). She has participated in a range of exhibitions, museums and art festivals. The work is mainly focused within painting, drawing, installations and photography. The work is often conceptual exploring ideas within the home, female identity, autobiography and vulnerability.
Recent work are dealing with the creation of scenes within the photographic medium and digitally manipulated image which are particularly exploring the relationship between the body and confined spaces with the female gender often being within the specific theme and centre of the pieces.
