Charliejoye is the creative lovechild of Charles McLaren. Graphic designer by trade
Charles graduated The Jamaica School of Art circa 1969 and then arrived in the UK
in 1976 for a post graduate stint at Central St Martins.

After graduation, Charles worked in the communications and advertising industry
for several years. Working on a diverse range of campaigns for organisations such
as Saatchi & Saatchi to the Health Education Office.

Still a freelance graphic designer, Charles has broadened his creative sphere and
began painting 4 years ago. His style is an eclectic mix of graphic boldness and
contemporary abstract. Inspired by a visceral interpretation of the world – his work
often reflects his vast collection of memories, travels love of nature and colour.
Charles has recently begun sharing his work and engaging spirit by facilitating art
workshops.
Charles exhibits and sells his work and hopes that each person who views his work takes
the journey through their mind to where the painting takes them.
