Working in close collaboration with affiliates in major art markets, art clvb’s mandate is to help established and emerging contemporary artists from the Middle East increase their exposure and recognition among the key players and markets in the modern art scene.

Allan Hughes is an artist based in Belfast and working out of Orchid Studios. His video installation work explores the production of remediated histories through the deconstruction of post-production processes. Hughes’ works usually proceeds from research into the sites, documents and apparatus of recorded and remediated histories. His installations have touched on many subjects, which have included Jane Fonda's Radio Hanoi Broadcasts, the decommissioned British Army listening post at Black Mountain in Belfast, the recording of Patty Hearst's S.L.A.

Passionate about people, relationships and the way the world works, my practice reveals structures and raises questions concerning social, economic and ecological perspectives.

Working nationally and internationally, often with multiple project partners, I 'activate' spaces by re-appropriating waste, confronting dogmas and igniting creativity at an individual and organisational level.

My processes involve Installation, photography, moving image, print and on-line projects.

My practice seeks to question subjectivity and objectivity in relation to human existence. I employ language and text in my exploration of this dichotomy, and in doing so indulge a fascination with the strengths, weaknesses and intricacies of these as communicative tools.
