Artselector.com - Online Gallery of Contemporary Artists
Artselector is one of the best sites on the web to discover new modern art from some of the most innovative Western artists working in painting, sculpture, print making, mixed media, digital, and performance art today. Artselector is a contemporary fine art collective that “was originally set up by MA Fine Art graduates of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and the Royal College of Art. Artselector offers an innovative visual directory of international contemporary fine artists, independent curators and galleries.” The site features a different artist every month, and is free for anyone who wants to register and host their portfolio on the site.
The painting section is divided into sections for Abstract, Landscape, Figurative, Oil, Acrylic, and other types of brushwork. Alberto D'Assumpcao’s work invokes memories of Kandinsky, Andrew Crane works in Abstract Expressionist lines, Angela Bell brings inspiration from Gutav Klimt, while others set their own style drawing upon multiple influences together. Pop Art, Minimalism, and Surrealism are all represented in new and engaging ways by painters on the site – some of the works may even be available for purchase on the site, or the possibility exists to contact the artists directly.
Sculpture on the site ranges from the Traditional to Installations, Figurative, and Found Object compositions. Alice Bradshaw redefines perception with paper bags, Anthony Elliott fuses dada and technology, Diana Scarborough works in the rough sensory dynamic of Art Brut, Doug Jones in a syncretic mysticism, and Eva Lis with a Surreal, erotic sensibility. The sculptures from these artists and others are challenging and refreshing, pushing boundaries and redefining the context of the medium.
Digital art on the site is led by artists such as Rachel Marsden, Vanya Lambrecht Ward, and Jan Kolling. Stands outs in the photography section include Carmen Salas, Alex Brew, and Faye Claridge. Printmaking is led by a number of fine artists working across media, as are the sections on installation, video art, and performance. Artselector is mainly driven by fine artists exhibiting in the London area, and for collectors, it may be a good source to discover and acquire works from young artists early in their careers.
The site is currently under re-development, and is expected to relaunch in the new year with a vast number of new features for social networking and online collaboration. Anyone interested in contemporary art should take the time to visit the web site at:

Artists looking for a place to exhibit their work online may also be interested in the site.

just discovering...
Thu, 25/06/2009 - 18:22 — Rachael ElwellI've very recently found artslector via a-n's website and i'm glad ive discovered it.
I really like the page payout and look of artselector, but having spent a few evenings mooching about the site I'm still finding the navigation a bit difficult and a few other things a bit tricky ( as noted also by the previous comment).
i think the categories are great and profiles are nicely presented. I will persevere with the technical hiccups i'm having and hope that it just down to my lack of computer skills that is making some of the features of the site a little bit frustrating to work out.

Really good presentation design
Fri, 23/10/2009 - 21:40 — Valery KoroshilovIt would be rather difficult not to agree with the earlier comment on the presentation qualities of this site. Excellent page layout, everything looks smart, tasteful and elegant. A very cool contemporary look, indeed.
I have joined this week. I accidentally came across a resume of an article about the BP Portrait Award exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, which is published here. Something interested me in that paragraph, and I decide to read the full text, but it didn't allow me to do it, as I wasn't registered. So, I have registered myself on artSelector - to get done with the article.
In the end, I looked around, liked it, and uploaded some images. Let's see what happens...
