Art & Architecture and Dance Umbrella have teamed up to offer you the chance to win two free tickets to see Cristina Caprioli’s cut-outs & trees, 8pm Thursday 21 October at Riverside Studios as part of Dance Umbrella 2010, UK’s leading annual festival of new dance.

One of the major choreographers and experimental theoreticians on the Scandinavian scene, Cristina Caprioli is making her first appearance in the UK. She created cut-outs & trees in collaboration with Greek architect and digital artist Panagiotis Michalatos who developed a software for her performances that generates patterns that react to or reinterpret the dancers’ movements. The six technically brilliant dancers deliver an explosive outburst from speed to slowness, urge and resistance, but also graceful simplicity and clarity. The projections cast an imaginary forest of trees and shadows, while further texturing is added with a sound score by alva noto.

This performance was commissioned by Dansens Hus (Stockholm), La Biennale de Venezia and Dance Umbrella within ENPARTS, European Network of Performing Arts.

Dance Umbrella 2010 runs from Tue 5 October – Sat 30 October. The festival features 24 artists performing in nine venues across London.
