Christina Mitrentse investigates the esoteric qualities of myth through possessing a dexterity of techniques, including handcrafted sculpture, drawing, photography, installation and conceptual appropriation. Her practice oscillates between that of curator, storyteller, and archaeologist. The work incorporates the extensive use of these disciplines to coerce the iconoplastic and conceptual vocabulary, in an endeavor to designate the peculiarity of this relational space of aesthetics. Ignoring traditional hierarchies of display, Mitrentse creates a freedom to suggest new narratives and poetic ensembles of personal institutions such as schools, libraries, churches, academies and museums.
Mitrentse is an Established Greek artist and art educator based in London East End. With an Onassis foundation fellowship, she holds an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design and a PGCE from University of Greenwich.
