Feeling Like I Do: She’s Lost Control and the Phenomenology of an Epileptic Seizure
Rita Marcalo, an internationally award winning artist and choreographer, will be presenting a talk at Lanternhouse in Ulverston. The talk will explore the contrasts between her life as a professional dancer and choreographer and the hidden condition she calls her 'invisible disability'; epilepsy.
The talk promises to be a fascinating insight into the work of an artist dedicated to pushing boundaries and challenging audiences. Her work exploring epilepsy has been well documented and attracted both praise and controversy. Rita has so far explored the condition through two works; Involuntary Dances (one of the most talked about live art works of 2009) and She's Lost Control which is currently on a national tour.
