Old BBC Video Documentary: "Philip K. Dick - A Day in the Afterlife"
Phlip K. Dick is one of America's finest modern writers in any genre - in Science Fiction he is without peer. PKD has inspired many and pushed the barriers of the Sci Fi tradition, bringing psychological and mystical themes into imaginary worlds that repeat and invert upon themselves in feedback loops of chaos. The video above is an old BBC documentary on the life of Philip K. Dick, the first of a series of 6 that have been preserved and uploaded to YouTube. Created during the 80's, the documentary brings something of the atmosphere of his novels and videos into the story of his life, surreal and underground, with colors and stripes to match. It provides a creative and innovative investigation into the themes and experiences that motivated his work
Most people will be familiar with the films that Philip K. Dick's writing inspired, for example "Blade Runner," based on his short story "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" and "Total Recall" derived from "We Can Remeber it for you Wholesale." For a good introduction to the story of his life and his collected works, Wikipedia is worth a look:

"We hypostasize information into objects. Rearrangement of objects is change in the content of the information; the message has changed. This is a language which we have lost the ability to read. We ourselves are a part of this language; changes in us are changes in the content of the information. We ourselves are information-rich; information enters us, is processed and is then projected outwards once more, now in an altered form. We are not aware that we are doing this, that in fact this is all we are doing."
