Since 2000, appropriation becomes a typical of Asmudjo’s work. He creates allusions to and remakes many existing artworks. Super Olympia is an immediate example of his earlier appropriation. Through the piece of work, he takes over Morimura’s Futago with seamless insertion of his own visage. Unlike Morimura, Asmudjo doesn’t insistent to be the only human in the scene of his work. Over a period several months, I have been busy creating new body of work. It has been a rather slow but very considered time spent in my modest studio space, but can now unveil my new creations. I am hoping to commit these to an exhibition at some point, and in the meantime shall be sending exhibition proposals to galleries and see if one of them takes the bait.  read more »
