Exhibition [Beta]

I am showing my wire and thread sculptural 'drawings' in the Kaleidoscope Gallery from 4 October 2011 - 7 January 2011 in an exhibition exploring the experimental and temporary.

"The contemporary art space operates without permanent collection or archive to set the context, but instead offers fleeting glimpses at experimental works. Reflective of what is current, work can be valid without longevity. In Exhibition: Beta artists present work that draws on themes of transience and explores the temporary nature of exhibition in the contemporary gallery."  read more »

Promised land by Nikolay Bendix Skyum Larsen

Last Thursday after a full day's conference on participation in the visual arts organised by Strange Cargo in Folkestone, I went down to the abandoned cafe on the forlorn-looking Marine Parade to see Larsen's 55-minute, three-screen film about migrants living in camps near Calais, planning their trip to Britain, the last leg of a very long journey from home.  read more »

The Endangered Asian Elephant (animation)

With a remaining global population of perhaps as few as 30,000 scattered across 13 different countries, the endangered Asian elephant is threatened by severe habitat loss and subsequent conflict with people, as well as poaching. They live in a greater range of habitats than any other mammal besides humans, and have been described as the “creative power of nature” on account of the vital role that they play in shaping and sustaining the richness of their habitats.  read more »
